WABA WEST ANNOUNCES NEW MEXICO LADY BULLSNAKES AS INAUGURAL FRANCHISE FOR 2026 SEASON


ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Women's American Basketball Association (WABA) is excited to announce the official launch of WABA WEST, a new expansion initiative designed to accelerate the league's growth and bring professional women's basketball to the Western United States. The New Mexico Lady Bullsnakes have been confirmed as the first franchise to join the league for its inaugural season, which is set to tip off in the spring of 2026.

This landmark announcement marks a significant step forward for the WABA as it broadens its footprint and creates new opportunities for female athletes and fans in the Western region. The league is actively recruiting additional teams, with strong interest from potential franchises in key markets including Arizona, California, Utah, and Texas.

Nick Lourenco, owner of the New Mexico Lady Bullsnakes, has been appointed to lead the development of WABA WEST. Lourenco's experience and dedication to the sport will be instrumental in building a competitive and sustainable league.
